The destination is accessible by road, through Bulgaria, either by bus or by private car, which significantly reduces travel costs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Western tourists are not lacking in this region, but Halkidiki is not among the most important destinations for them. As a rule, those who arrive in Greece by air or sea prefer the Greek islands and the areas of Southern Greece. Halkidiki and Mount Athos are predominantly visited by tourists from Eastern Europe and the Balkans. The destination may also be relevant to Christian holidays. Athos is an important destination for the Orthodox, but, beware!, the monks do not allow the presence of women on Mount Athos.
